It’s bout’ time I do a Lana Del Rey poster up in hurr. I have been obsessed with her over the last five years and have finally decided on a design that fit some of my favourite songs of hers. When I first heard her, she was the epitome of old hollywood glam. This last weekend I had the chance to go see downtown hollywood and the walk of fame. It was beyond ghetto in most areas but I saw the potential of its old glory in small things like the stars, architecture and some of the cool street art.

I wanted this poster to be in its glory days, when the city was built and thus I used every art deco font possible. The color palette was really fun too. Some of her songs are soft and melancholy and some are dark and moody so I had to do a few different palettes. Check out the rest of my poster designs HERE.

Well let’s talk supermodels. Who is everyones favourite??? Cara Delevingne of course. I love that the days of the supermodels are back and more alive than ever. Pinterest is covered with them, not like they are much better of an influence than actors or singers but its fun to have a change. Back in the 80’s supermodels were on the cover of magazines and then that faded for a really long time. I was too young to remember but we all know Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford with the lustrous mole on her face. Now its Cara Delevigne, Barbara Palvin and Kate Upton, along with every Victoria’s Secret model out there and they are blowing up my Pinterest so….

I decided to use Cara for some posters I designed for Provo’s Fall Fashion Week, they didn’t end up using them but I had a great time designing them. If you live in Utah come on down for the show.  I loved the color palette and thought the song I chose was dreamy so I made a quote from it. I also found out that Cara sings! And she is pretty good so I put the link to her little video here. Enjoy!

Degas-Dance-Poster

Had the time of my life doing this beauty. I absolutely love art history and when I got the opportunity to design a dance poster the first thing that came to my mind was the artist Degas. He was famous for painting ballerinas in the late 1800’s. I wanted to use his work as a traditional twist on the modern dance posters I was designing. He uses a really painterly style which is really modern and his color palette is amazing. I used several of his painting to fill in the letters to build interest that had symbolism in it. The theme was unwritten so I did a little play on that with the stacking of the large letters making it a little harder to read as well as the missing letters in the word below each letter. They turned out really cool. As far as my inspirational song, I am OBSESSED with this cover by Bastille. They have a whole album that is just covers and most of them are amazing. Love this band.
