WH-Website_v2I love working on branding jobs for photographers because there is already so much inspiring content to work with. Sitting here looking at the snow outside is really making me want spring to come so I can practice my photography skills with all of the beautiful flowers and colors.

This photographer wanted a moody and playful logo for her fun personality and style. I made the submark very classic so it could be used in many different ways showing anything from formal images to fun playful shoots. We added her site to top off the overall branding and giving her clients something visually beautiful to look at and of course seal the deal.

If you ever have any questions about branding and my process, information pills diagnosis feel free to ask below in the comments. Thanks!

When my Grandma passed away this summer I was able to go choose out a few things from her old house that I wanted. I took some beautiful little items of jewelry and a crochet baby cardigan but my most special item was a box of letters I found. She was big on family history and loved learning about the lives of those that had long passed and in this old shoe box I found hundreds of letters from the mid 1800’s. I have just started teaching myself calligraphy and this is just how it was back then. The yellow paper and proper english is so exciting to see and touch. My goal with these letters is to scan all of them and document them in a book for all of my relatives to have digitally. I am excited to read them and learn more about my family history and I feel like it is the perfect season to do it.

The idea of having a VW bus in the worlds cutest color makes for an awesome shoot. For the invitation suite, I wanted to do something a little more free and less formal. I did a fun watercolor wash and then some messy calligraphy to add to the organic feel. I wanted to add a bit of texture and detail by using a papercut made from a stencil by American Crafts in the Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection I helped design. Since I don’t scrapbook I thought I would use it in a different way by tracing it onto paper and using an exacto knife to cut out the shapes, it was really easy just very time consuming, I am planning on doing a tutorial soon.

I was so blessed to work with amazing people and it all came together perfectly, I couldn’t be happier with everything.

This was probably the hardest branding job I have ever done. It was not because of the client, because she was amazing to work with and very creative. I think I just couldn’t quite hit the perfect mix of wedding and edge to make the right logo. We went through a ton of good ones but when we finally got to the last one, I knew it was finally what she wanted. Lizy is a florist who does very elegant and high end weddings. However, her personal style is a bit more edgy and mixing the two really pushed my design skills. I love when this happens because it makes me learn something new. I had to get off the computer and sketch and learn calligraphy as well as perfect my lettering skills. It was so much fun and I am grateful for this project. The color palette is beautiful and moody and brings in a modern element with the copper details. She is just a classy girl, what can say!

foundmyself

I am always so inspired by music and lyrics and this song really stood out to me this week. I am working on my lettering and calligraphy, see and practicing with some cool lyrics always makes it so much more fun. This particular sentence hits home for me in a lot of ways. I have so much baggage from my past, I would have to pay the 50 dollars plus to get on the plane if you know what I mean. I feel like I have lived 2 lives before the age of thirty and therefore throughout those experiences I have lost much of my confidence, always waiting for the perfect person to come into my life and give me my happily ever after. Being a hopeless romantic and dreamer really made me think that was possible and that was all I needed to be happy. Luckily it was possible, but not until I realized what I had been looking for the whole time was a creative, confident Kirsten. I finally saw that I was worth so much more than I could ever know and therefore I deserved someone who would love and treat me well. The change in my life was all within myself and that is why I feel like I connect with this song. Hope you like it as much as I do.

When designing for this winter styled shoot, and I wanted to do something that was a challenge for me. I am working on my painting skills and I have never really painted florals so I thought it would be a fun time to practice. I also wanted to do a grungy calligraphy style to offset the soft florals. I chose a dusty blue for the color because of the season and thought it gave it a bit more of a winter feel. I loved the color palette of this shoot and am obsessed with the way it turned out. Photos Evelyn Eslava // Flowers Soil & Stem // Bridal gowns Bree Lena // Veil Danani // Cake Flour & Flourish // Stationery West End Girl // Hair and makeup artist Victoria Plant // RibbonSilk & Willow // Model Kaylee Young
