Well let’s talk supermodels. Who is everyones favourite??? Cara Delevingne of course. I love that the days of the supermodels are back and more alive than ever. Pinterest is covered with them, not like they are much better of an influence than actors or singers but its fun to have a change. Back in the 80’s supermodels were on the cover of magazines and then that faded for a really long time. I was too young to remember but we all know Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford with the lustrous mole on her face. Now its Cara Delevigne, Barbara Palvin and Kate Upton, along with every Victoria’s Secret model out there and they are blowing up my Pinterest so….

I decided to use Cara for some posters I designed for Provo’s Fall Fashion Week, they didn’t end up using them but I had a great time designing them. If you live in Utah come on down for the show.  I loved the color palette and thought the song I chose was dreamy so I made a quote from it. I also found out that Cara sings! And she is pretty good so I put the link to her little video here. Enjoy!

I wanted my theme to be inspirational since it is suicide prevention month and I have had some friends pass this summer from suicide. Depression and low self-esteem is a terrible disease. Everyone catches it on occasion and for some, prostate purchase it never goes away. My wish is that people can somehow understand how important they are and have a knowledge of Gods love for them individually.

It’s true, I am! It has been one year since I started this blog and I honestly have learned so much. Trial and error has been the way its done but I have seen so many blessings through it. I have met amazing people, learned how to be a better business woman, and ultimately become a much more talented designer. I am now confident in some of my weaknesses and know it is only the beginning for West End Girl. My husband has been so supportive and understanding when I am working and not spending time with him and through it, we have learned to better enjoy are time together. We finally moved into our new house and I am so excited to begin decorating. I am going to do a series of posts on my diy journey. I admit I am not much of a crafter believe it or not but Tyler and I are loving the process of decorating under a budget. We even went to an estate sale and bought some goodies so I am excited to use them.

I am always so inspired by music and lyrics and this song really stood out to me this week. I am working on my lettering and calligraphy, see and practicing with some cool lyrics always makes it so much more fun. This particular sentence hits home for me in a lot of ways. I have so much baggage from my past, I would have to pay the 50 dollars plus to get on the plane if you know what I mean. I feel like I have lived 2 lives before the age of thirty and therefore throughout those experiences I have lost much of my confidence, always waiting for the perfect person to come into my life and give me my happily ever after. Being a hopeless romantic and dreamer really made me think that was possible and that was all I needed to be happy. Luckily it was possible, but not until I realized what I had been looking for the whole time was a creative, confident Kirsten. I finally saw that I was worth so much more than I could ever know and therefore I deserved someone who would love and treat me well. The change in my life was all within myself and that is why I feel like I connect with this song. Hope you like it as much as I do.

I have been way too into this song lately, I love the lyrics and I love the beat so I wanted to highlight it in some of my lettering practice. It totally reminds me of how women are, we are borderline happy, and borderline sad, especially me. I have had such a mix of emotions building this house, one minute I am so excited and grateful and then the next minute I am crying and stressed out of my mind. Hahhahaaaa It makes me laugh but this house thing is killing me! I can’t wait for it to be over.

All I can say is if you don’t know this song, get to, it is a good beat that will lighten your spirit!

Nothin like some good Selena Gomez to brighten up the new year. I love her bopper beats and this one has some really cute lines. I was practicing my lettering with some of my favourite lyrics from the song The Heart Wants What it Wants that she recently released. It is totally about JB which makes it kind of sad because he is such a loser now but I totally get it. Well here is a little something to look at for today. Cheerio!

Taylor Swift. I have never been a real big fan of her music but I think she is an amazing artist and obviously everyone loves anything she puts out. I think her new album is great and this song had so many fun little quotes that I had to design one for the old shop. I think the phrase “shake it off” is such a good thing to keep in your pocket and pull out when you feel upset about something. Lately I have been a little sensitive to comments and actions of others and the overarching theme that keeps running through my head is these three little words. I Love trying to better myself (although it is sometimes overwhelming) but having this print on the wall next to my computer is the perfect reminder. Forgive, store cialis get over it, treatment and be happy!

I love this color palette so much that I made you a little swatch image to pin. I also used one of my favourite new fonts called finlek, its on sale right now for $19 and is really fun to use. I am sure you have noticed how everything has gone from perfect sway calligraphy to brushy textured bold type. I love it all, its so fun to see how people use it. My challenge to you is to put use this in some way, either an outfit or a DIY project or whatever your little heart desires. Good luck!
